Quick Bits: Pettitte, Rankings, Steinbrenners, Cashman

Here are a few interesting news items on the evening.
- According to Jon Heyman (SI), Andy Pettitte told his teammates that he would like to “come back for one final year,” with 2010 serving as that year. The Yankees need Pettitte for next season and it will likely be his last, not only in pinstripes, but as a player (then again, it’s Pettitte, so you never really know).
- The Elias Rankings were released earlier today and the only ranked Yankees were Johnny Damon (A), Andy Pettitte (B), and Xavier Nady (B). For whatever reason, Hideki Matsui is not ranked.
- Hal and Hank Steinbrenner have released a statement thanking the fans.
- Brian Cashman arrived at the GM meetings today and doesn’t foresee “anything happening” while in Chicago.
Back with more later.
