Yanks likely to resign Matsui?

December 10, 2009, 12:22 pm by iYankees · 5 Comments

According to Ken Davidoff (Newsday), in a tweet just a few minutes ago, despite rumored interest from the Angels, White Sox, and A’s, there is an increasing expectation within Major League Baseball that the Yankees will eventually resign Hideki Matsui. Davidoff notes that it could take until January, however, which I’m sure Brian Cashman is fine with, given that filling the DH role seems to be last on his list of priorities. For instance, yesterday, Cashman quipped, “You can turn left, you can right, you can look up and down, and you’ve got a DH sitting right there begging for a job.” Obviously, based on that comment, a DH resolution will be slow to develop.

Hopefully, Davidoff is right and the Yankees-Matsui marriage continues for at least one more year.

If Matsui leaves new York, then I will leave New York.

Haha. The Matsui loyalty seems to be unanimous. No one wants to go to war next season without him.

I don’t think he’s going anywhere. The feel of the rumors over the last few weeks have me more and more convinced that Damon’s gone and pretty much knows it, the front office is just trying to let him down easy so they don’t look like bad guys due to the business decision. I have a sneaking suspicion that they always planned to cut ties with Damon and retain Matsui. If every Yankees fan on every message board can tell it is the best move, there’s no way they’ve missed it.

On a related note, maybe we can get Matsui some knee replacements to fix his health problems and subsequently name him Mecha-Godzilla :D

Yeah I agree with barrinmb Damon s9ounds scared because he knows with Granderson coming in there is only a DH spot left and between the 2 Hideki is the much much better choice to DH.
