Quick Bits: Melky, DeRosa, Left Field

Here are three quick items on the day:
- Melky Cabera via spokesperson on being traded from NY: “I’m going to miss it dearly.”
- SI’s Jon Heyman says that Mark DeRosa is sitting on a 2-year, $12M deal from the Giants.
- That’s likely too rich for the Yankees, who are looking to spend only $4M or so on LF.
Yesterday, Mark Feinsand said the Yankees would spend “roughly” $5-6M on “fixing” left field, but today’s report cites $4M, which seems like a clarification. It looks like the Yankees are, indeed, prepared to go the lower-tier route.
