Quick Bits: Ankiel Signs, Matthews Traded, Yankee Stadium

Here are a few items on the day:
- Rick Ankiel has signed a one-year, $3.25M deal with KC. The deal includes a mutual options for 2011.
- The Mets continue to make brilliant decisions as they have acquired Gary Matthews Jr. from the Angels.
- ESPN‘s Rob Neyer takes a look at the new Yankee Stadium and ultimately declares it a neutral ballpark.
$3.25 million for Rick Ankiel? How can Johnny Damon not top that?
UPDATE – My mistake here. Ankiel’s base salary is actually $2.75 million and the deal can reach $3.25 million guaranteed if the Royals buy him out for $500K (or they can keep him around with a mutual option for $6 million in 2011).
