Left Field Bits: Trades, Cruz, Damon, Gardner

Here’s a quick recap of this weekend’s left field/outfield items:
- Frankie Piliere tweeted that the Yanks have been exploring trade options to flesh out their outfield.
- One of the players the Yankees may have inquired about was Nelson Cruz, who is not going anywhere.
- Johnny Damon is expected to sign this week and most reports indicate that he won’t return to New York.
- According to Bill Madden, Damon’s agent, Scott Boras, tried pulling the “mystery team” card on the Yanks.
- The Yankees may not have issued an offer deadline to Damon, but, Boras might have issued one to them.
- While Brian Cashman expressed a willingness to use Brett Gardner in LF, Joe Girardi has yet to do so.
This could be an eventful week for the Yankees. However, whether Damon will be part of the action is unclear.
