Recap Bits: Damon, Rotation, Reed, Wang

Here are a few quick items from the weekend, plus a “new” bit:

  • Johnny Damon is still homeless as the few options he once had have dwindled considerably.
  • Last night, we were treated to a guest post regarding Damon and WPA from our own, tedbrogen.
  • Joe Girardi said the Yankees will host a 5-man “competition” for the 5th rotation spot this spring.
  • Reed Johnson, a former right-handed target of the Yanks, has agreed to a deal with the Dodgers.
  • Speaking of the Dodgers, yesterday, we heard that they are still interested in Chien-Ming Wang.

The Cards and the Mets have also been linked to Wang, plus, I suspect Seattle is interested.  The Mariners were actually in the lead to sign Wang in 2000 and he was going to accept, too, however, as they seem to do whenever they really want something, the Yankees swooped in last minute with a $1.9 million offer and the rest is history.
