Damon’s desire for a 2-year deal holding up move to Detroit?

According to Lynn Henning of the Detroit News, “the belief, strong belief, is that [Johnny Damon's] agent Scott Boras wants a second year” for his client, which is a “deal-breaker” for the Tigers, who don’t want to commit a two-year contract to a 36-year old outfielder. If Damon is willing to ease up on the second year – after all, beggars can’t be choosers – perhaps we’ll see him and the Tigers come to an agreement.

I’m hearing Boras wants 2 years / $11 million, but it is unclear if that’s a total of $11 million for the two years, or $22 million for the two years.

someone will grab him when he is a bargain. Bargain probably means $3m plus incentives.

a big part of this is the Yankees and everyone else in baseball telling Boras to go f*** himself. Johnny would be better off firing his agent. Boras’ repeated statement that “the Yankees never made an offer” and that the “Yankees didn’t want Damon” make very evident that Boras is a liar and self serving. It is obvious Damon could have had a two year contract from the Yankees worth $14m maybe a bit more. Cashman is quite credible on this. It is interesting that no player anywhere has voiced any support whatsoever for Boras or Damon. Boras has been duplicitous and Damon has been stupid.
