Nationals “aggressively pursuing” Chien-Ming Wang

According to a source that spoke with Bill Ladson of MLB.com, the Nationals are “aggressively pursuing” former Yankee, Chien-Ming Wang, and are currently one of the “finalists” to acquire his services. Although Wang is reportedly three months away from pitching in a game, he would be a nice high-reward pickup for the Nationals, who can surely benefit from additional starting depth. Last season, Washington struggled mightily with its pitching, posting many of the poorest marks in the Majors with regards to xFIP, K/9, BB/9, WHIP, and wins. Other clubs recently linked to Wang include the Cardinals, Dodgers, and the Mets.
UPDATE (6:38 pm) – Today, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports also named the Orioles as a potential suitor for Wang – they have had “discussions” about him – and reported that the sinkerballer is expected to sign within 7-10 days.

high-reward – ehh, monetary value – yes…he’ll bring in a nice chunk of change from the Taiwanese following for one of those clubs

iYankees… What am I missing. 19 game winner 2 times. Will pitch in 3 months. Early today I heard 16 teams have called about him. When he was healthy with Yanks he was a force. Is there a medical prob. that may finish him?…Except for base running, he was VERY good. Whats going on?

As e mills sort of alludes to, the surgery Wang had was very serious. It’s questionable as to whether or not Wang will ever throw as hard as he once did.
