As usual, here are a few quick items on the day (included is an interesting non-Yankee bit):
- Yesterday, the Yankees defeated the Phillies, 7-5, thanks to Robinson Cano and Nick Swisher.
- Right-hander, Javier Vazquez, also deserves credit, holding Philly to 1 ER over 2 IP (1 H, 0 BB, 4 K).
- Yesterday, the Yankees also defeated the Pirates, 6-0, as New York pitching held them to just one hit.
- Francisco Cervelli has been cleared for physical activity, however, the Yankees will proceed carefully.
- Finally, Aroldis Chapman made his debut yesterday against KC. His line, 2 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K.
The Reds must be pleased with their young southpaw, who reportedly hit 98-102 mph on the radar guns.
