Waiting for the Yankees to trade Gaudin or Mitre

According to Joel Sherman of the NY Post (h/t to Rob over at Bronx Baseball Daily), “the Yankees are almost certain to trade either Chad Gaudin or Sergio Mitre before the season begins.” In view of Arizona’s front office concerns regarding the current depth of their rotation, Sherman names the Diamondbacks as a possible fit for either pitcher (mind you, this is just speculation). Having both pitchers, Mitre and Gaudin, on the Yankees roster to start the season is really an improbability as it would mean bouncing a better relief option, therefore, Sherman is simply stating the obvious. One of these guys has to go and should go. Where? No one knows, really. But, along with the D-Backs, other National League clubs that could benefit from an extra arm include the Dodgers, Astros, and even the Mets.
Which pitcher should be sent packing, though? That is debatable, as there is no clear-cut answer. A few months ago, I would have traded Gaudin due to his salary, but, with the Yankees done shopping, he would likely be a better bullpen option – mainly against right-handers – than Mitre. In addition, Gaudin has a history relieving, too, which helps.
