Gardenhire frustrated, resorts to whining

Here’s Pat Borzi of the NY Post on last night’s game:

But when Girardi sent out Andy Pettitte for the bottom of the ninth, then called for Rivera before Pettitte faced a hitter – stalling because Rivera needed a few more warmup tosses in the bullpen – television cameras caught Gardenhire visibly agitated in the dugout. He vented to Twin Cities reporters after the game.

“Kind of tired, to tell you the truth,” Gardenhire said. “Don’t normally get that long between innings. You know what’s going on there. That’s a situation Major League Baseball needs to take care of when stuff like that happens. If you don’t have a guy ready in the bullpen, if your starter goes out there he should have to face a hitter.”

Given the way Pettitte pitched last night, why would Gardenhire want him out there for another hitter (and against a lefty, no doubt)? The Twins skipper is obviously frustrated by losing to the Yankees over and over again, but to complain about something like this is pretty tired. No need to be a sore loser.
