For all we know, Phil Hughes, one of the best pitchers in the American League, could pitch a no-hitter tonight. Of course, none of that matters, though, if the Yankees’ bats continue to sleepwalk through the current homestand. Collectively, this week, the Yankees have hit an abysmal .221/.324/.387. The bats will bust out at some point – they can’t stay asleep forever – but when that will occur is unknown. It would be great to see such an offensive explosion today, against a Mets team that can seemingly do no wrong, yet with Mike Pelfrey on the mound, it is doubtful.
