Morning Bits: Recap, Aceves, Pettitte, Call-Ups, Teixeira

August 24, 2010, 9:50 am by · 2 Comments

Here are a few quick items on the morning:

  • Though Ivan Nova pitched well yesterday – 5.1 IP 6 H 2 ER 1 BB 3 K – the Yankees lost to Toronto, 3-2.
  • The rehabbing Alfredo Aceves will make another start in the minors today, marking his 4th such outing.
  • Speaking of injured hurlers, we learn that the veteran, Andy Pettitte, will toss a bullpen session on Friday.
  • Expect to see Colin Curtis, Jonathan Albaladejo, Romulo Sanchez, and Juan Miranda again in September.
  • This year, managers seem eager to intentionally walk Mark Teixeira to face A-Rod or Robinson Cano.

Is it a good idea, though? No, actually. It’s not, (thank you, Jack Moore of FanGraphs).
