It all comes down to… Dustin Moseley

After losing to the Red Sox last night — Tampa Bay won their game, of course — the Yankees and the Rays are all tied up in the AL East (and for the Wildcard). To win the division, the Yankees must defeat John Lackey today, and they must also hope for some good luck in the form of a Rays loss against Kansas City (the Rays and rookie Wade Davis are facing Sean O’Sullivan and his 6.68 ERA). The Yankees will counter Lackey with Dustin Moseley, who has posted a 4.82 ERA and 1.55 WHIP over 18 2/3 innings against the Red Sox in his career.
Honestly, if the Rays win today and the Yankees end up taking the wildcard, is that a bad thing?
If they win the AL East, they face the Rangers, meaning Cliff Lee, Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz, C.J. Wilson, etc. If they win the wildcard, they face the Twins and a pitching staff comprised of Carl Pavano and Brian Duensing. Given their success against the Twins historically, I think I would rather see the Yankees face the latter.
