Well, this was inevitable

Via ESPN New York:

With A.J. Burnett on track to start Game 4 of the American League Championship Series, Jorge Posada could be on the bench for that game.

Posada has only caught Burnett eight times this season, while Francisco Cervelli has been behind the plate for Burnett 25 times this season. For much of the latter part of the year, Yankees manager Joe Girardi instituted a catching rotation in which Cervelli caught Posada and Javier Vazquez, while Posada caught the Yankees’ other three starters.

Last season, Girardi chose to have backup catcher Jose Molina catch Burnett in the playoffs, bowing to Burnett’s fragile psyche. With so much attention being paid to Burnett’s likely Game 4 start, it is hard to imagine Girardi not placating Burnett.

“That is something we will have to address,” Girardi said.

Why placate Burnett? The Yankees will probably need as much offense as possible when A.J. starts. Assuming he’s well-rested, starting Posada over Frankie Cervelli in Game 4 seems like a no-brainer to me.
