Burnett in the bullpen

November 4, 2009, 4:00 pm by iYankees · 1 Comment

From Mark Feinsand (props to RAB), we learn that A.J. Burnett will be available as a reliever for the final two games of the series after throwing only 53 pitches in Game 5 (how’s that for short-rest?). Joe Girardi did, however, note that a Burnett relief appearance would be unlikely. I assume he would only bring Burnett in if there was an “emergency” situation, such as an injury to Andy Pettitte early in the game (or if he fails to make it out of the first inning).

  1. The other one says:

I can’t imagine any scenario short of running out guys in the pen in which Burnett would come in tonight or tomorrow, he is just to unpredictable when everything is normal he hasn’t come out of the pen in years I’m sure.
