Greinke the AL’s Cy Young winner

Zack Greinke took home the AL’s Cy Young Award today (CC Sabathia was in 4th). Greinke, 25, was phenomenal with KC in 2009, posting a 2.16 ERA over 229 1/3 innings pitched. He struck out 242 and walked 51. The young Royal was the clear favorite for the honor throughout the year and his 9.4 WAR at the end of the season—the highest value for a pitcher since Randy Johnson struck out 290 over 245 2/3 innings in 2004—pretty much solidified his victory.
