Yanks “very interested” in Sheets

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Yankees are “very interested” in free agent starter, Ben Sheets. With Matt Holliday seemingly out of the picture and John Lackey to the Red Sox, it could make sense for the Yankees to lock up Sheets, although Rosenthal states that the oft-injured pitcher is currently “in no rush to sign.” If the Yankees manage to ink Sheets to a deal sooner rather than later, they could then wait for Johnny Damon to desperately seek them out for a contract in January (he could suffer the same fate Bobby Abreu did a year ago).
Sheets can’t expect a $12 million deal, however (from the Yankees or anyone else).
