Patterson in Petco

While I wished Chase Wright adieu—earlier today—and hope that he’ll have a good career with the Brewers, I’d also like to wish Scott Patterson luck, too. Patterson had a strong spring training and many of us hoped that he would be an integral part of the 2008 bullpen. However, in September Patterson was DFA’d after battling pneumonia, so it never came to be. The Padres picked him up but he suffered from a herniated disk, ultimately ending his season prematurely.
Despite the setbacks, Scott sounds thankful for his time with Yankees, so I wish him well. With Trevor Hoffman gone and Heath Bell taking over as the SD closer, Patterson and the infamous Chris Britton could truly dominate hitters in the expansive field that is Petco Park.
