Blanton, not Lee, to start Game 4

From Pete Abraham (Boston Globe), we learn that Charlie Manuel has chosen Joe Blanton to start Game 4, and will not use Cliff Lee on short-rest (3 days). The Yankees must be pretty pleased with Manuel’s decision. Not only does Blanton have a career 8.18 ERA against New York, but by barring Lee from Game 4 and deploying him, instead, in Game 5, the Yankees won’t have to see Lee in a possible Game 7 (if it gets that far). One would think that Girardi will counter Blanton with CC Sabathia in Game 4. That matchup would give the Yankees a distinct advantage at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia.

  1. The other one says:

I would like to see Joe tell CC he can’t start game 4, you know he wants to hit so bad! He would be so angry if he missed his chance at a World Series HR.
